Growing Like Weeds: Basics to Teach Your Young Man

There are so many things you need to teach your son in order to make sure he turns into a respectable and reliable young man one day. Whether you are a father or a mother, there are some keys points to show your son that are vital to his future.

To Be a Handyman

One of these key points includes teaching your son how to fix things around the house. Not difficult things around the house of course, just things like leaky faucets, clogged drains, over flowing toilets, but when he is older you can proceed to teach him out to repair a roof or how to re-grout a bathroom floor. He may even benefit from lending a hand to friend, family, and neighbors that may need help fixing problems in their homes. There is no better man, than a handy man.

Proper Shaving

Shaving is a very important thing to teach your son, and he needs to know why it is important to shave. Purchasing him his own shaving set, and teaching him how to do this will serve him well later in life and will ensure that he gets a better job since he will not be looking like a raggedy teenager at job interviews. Women these days do not appreciate straggly looking young men, and I do not blame them one bit. If a man wants to be respected, they should be taught by their parents how to look respectful from early childhood on.

How to Cook

Another important thing to teach your son is how to cook for himself, because you do not want him to grow up living off of fast food restaurants and Chinese takeout. You should make sure that he knows how to cook healthy meals for himself, so make it fun, teach him how to bake cookies and other goodies as well; not just the healthy stuff. When he is a grown man trying to date or keep a woman around, cooking will give him a few brownie points as women love men who know how to cook a good meal.

Confidence and Teamwork

Last but not least, it is vitally important to have your son taught how to gain confidence. Sports, joining clubs, or just giving him special responsibilities are imperative in the growing experience, so have a chat with him as he grows to see what his interests are, just be sure that he wants to participate. Never force or bribe him to partake in these activities, as he is most likely to feel obligated, and might start to feel resentment when he should be feeling confidence and excitement.
